We manufacture and deliver car ramps either on the basis of the customer’s own design plans or the customer’s initial data. For total deliveries, we are responsible for design, manufacture, installation, user training and maintenance.
We manufacture customized car ramps for different applications:
The side car ramp can be implemented for passenger cars and vans entering and leaving the ship. The side car ramp connects the port and the ship’s upper car deck. The ramp is designed for light car traffic.
Ramp Has Two Separate Parts
The side car ramp consists of a fixed part and a hydraulically movable upper platform. The parts are connected to each other by a hinged flap.
The moving part of the ramp is controlled either by a control panel placed on the base of the car ramp or by a separate controller. The lifting and lowering of the moving part of the side car ramp takes place by means of lifting cylinders. The longitudinal movements of the vessel are compensated by a wheel beam system located at the end of the moving ramp.
RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) car ramps are an adjustable ramp along which cars are driven to the ship through the bow or stern gate. If the ramp is used only in connection with the ship’s stern gate, it is called the stern ramp. The RoRo car ramp is hinged and the hinges are attached to the ground end of the ramp. The height adjustment of the steel flap is done hydraulically with telescopic cylinders and controlled manually from the dock control panel. For smaller stern ramps, the height can also be adjusted using lifting screws.
The Ramp Has Several Locking Positions
The RoRo car ramp is locked in its operating position with locking pins, each controlled by its own hydraulic cylinder. In the stern ramp, the locking of the operating position is managed by a locking tower with several different positions as required. An automatic limit switch controls the positions of the steel flap & locking pins and ensures the safe operation of the RoRo and stern ramps in all situations.
The double ramp has separate lower and upper parts that are hydraulically adjusted. The type of ship, the weight of the cargo and the variation of the water level affect the height adjustments of the ramp. The double ramp may also have a separate drop-down section to be used if the ship enters the port bow first.
The Lower Ramp
The lower ramp is adjusted by means of hydraulic lifting cylinders whenever the ship’s draft changes. Ramp raising / lowering and automatic travel controls are also equipped with manual controls to ensure operational reliability in all conditions.
The Upper Ramp
The upper ramp consists of a fixed ramp part, an adjustable base part and a lifting flap with a tip flap. The fixed ramp section leads to an upper ramp, the adjustable ramp of which is supported by hinges on the fixed ramp section. The adjustable ramp on the sea side is adjusted / raised with hydraulic cylinders. Lifting the tip flap to the bow of the vessel is done with two double-acting hydraulic cylinders. In this case, the hydraulics are in the float mode, i.e., the lifting flap follows the varying height of the vessel each time it is loaded or unloaded.
The Hydraulics Room Serves the Whole Ramp
The hydraulics room controls both the lower and upper ramp functions. For example, upper ramp height adjustment, tip lift, lateral ramp offset, and lower ramp adjustments and positions.
We focus on the requirements, standards, and deliveries of safe port facilities. The car ramps are pre-welded assemblies. The elements ready for installation connects to each other with bolted joints. This guarantees quick on-site installation and reduces welding work at the site.
The steel surface parts of the ramps have anti-slip features. Thus, it can resist mechanical wear and varying weather conditions. Outdoor lighting fittings are frost-resistant LED luminaires suitable for port conditions. Depending on the size and purpose of the ramp, they are often also equipped with traffic lights and booms.
Each delivery is its own project. The best and most appropriate structural decision is made together with the customer. Seawater-resistant aluminium and stainless-steel structures can fight against corrosion even in challenging conditions. The corrosion resistance class of the ramps is M5. We supply car ramps with CE marking under the Machinery Directive 2006/42 / EG. They also meet the regulations for load-bearing structures EXC2. The loads calculated for the structures as well as the design always have to meet the strict requirements such as e.g., of Eurocodes 1 and 3.
